Are you “not good” at meditating? You can also find your inner peace, calm, and focus in other ways, such as running, weight lifting, self-care, journaling, or drawing. In order to find these euphoric states we need to quiet our busy minds, and that’s something a lot of us find very difficult. In traditional mindfulness practice this is usually done by focusing on the breath or sensations in the body. In creative mindfulness it’s done by focusing your attention on a specific creative activity such as drawing, improv, or creative writing.
After a 60-min vinyasa flow, I’ll encourage you to focus on how it feels to hold a pen, to draw, and concentrate on one task while we maintain an intentional breath… and maybe drink a beer.
With such a strong focus on body, breath, and the specific activity of drawing, people generally find it much easier to become absorbed into what they’re doing so they can rest in a state of calm and remain there longer and with less effort than a traditional seated meditation.
Registration includes a 60-minute all-levels vinyasa flow, followed by a 30-minute mindfulness drawing exercise while you enjoy your complimentary pint of one of Hysteria’s “Mad” ales. I will provide all tools required for our drawing practice, please bring your own yoga mat, I only have 3 to loan.
Can’t stay? That’s alright, there’s an option for just asana.
As always, $5 of each ticket sold goes to Vetoga.org
